According to the AJC, drivers are no longer able to operate their phones unless they are using hands-free technology. This is due to the new Hands-Free Georgia Act, which took effect July 1st.
Previously, only teenagers under the age of 18 were prohibited from using a wireless device while driving. This change is due to the starling spike of deaths related to texting and driving. The AJC estimates that “at least 3,000 people die each year in accidents nationally caused by distracted driving”. Additionally, from 2014-2016 Georgia saw a 34% increase in motor vehicle deaths. Under this new legislation, if a device is your hand, you are breaking the law despite age. To help suppress this problem, local officials urge drivers to utilize hands-free technology in your vehicles. Ford introduced bluetooth technology in their vehicles back in 2007, so there are a wide range of affordable vehicles to chose from. At the Wade Ford Motor Trend Certified Used Store, we offer a variety of affordable vehicles of all makes and models with built-in bluetooth technology, keeping you and your loved ones safe and alert.
